European Business is excited to invite you to our next networking event hosted by Jura Australia Espresso.

It is not unusual for European brands, with a premium image and well-known household name in Europe, to enter the Australian market with little to no brand recognition. An underestimated, but important dimension, are the cross cultural issues that arise along the way.

George Liakatos, Managing Director of Jura Australia Espresso is sharing the Swiss company’s experience (successes and challenges!) with the European Business community.

We look forward to a discussion around the intricacies of entering, adapting and succeeding as an unknown and the challenges that are particular to the European company-experience Down Under.

The evening includes:

  • A Q&A session with Mr George Liakatos, Managing Director of Jura Australia, discussing Jura’s market-entry experience in Australia, and the strange and wonderful experience of operating a Swiss company in the Australian market
  • A tour of the Jura facilities and presentation of the technology
  • An opportunity to network with your fellow European Business community members over canapés and drinks.

The picnic will be followed by a guided tour of the Mirka Moira exhibition in the Heide Museum of Modern Art. This event is different to the ones we normally have and we look forward to sharing this new experience with you.

Mirka Moira was a French-born Australian artist and a central figure in the cultural life of Australia, contributing significantly to the development of contemporary art in this country. The current exhibition ‘pas de deux – drawings and dolls’ is an homage to the artist who recently passed away. The exhibition brings together some of the artist’s most personal work: drawings and soft-sculpture dolls from her home and studio where she kept them close for many decades.

We are excited to invite you to the 2018 Australia v Europe Wine Tasting event.

European Business is proud to announce that sommelier Bela Rice will guide attendees in comparing an exciting range of wines from Soumah winery to their European counterparts.

Soumah is located at the foothills of picturesque Warramate Hills. Due to the diversity of climate, soil and aspects, the Yarra Valley is one of the few regions able to produce a wide array of world class wines. There is something for everyone for example Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio as well as red wines and Rose.

Soumah’s first vintages attracted many accolades including their exclusive Savarro winning consecutive trophies at the 2011 and 2012 Federation Square Wine Showcase as well as gathering not less than 14 medals and trophies.

Bela Rice has close to 30 years wine industry experience, running his own wine distribution and consultancy business, ‘Grape Ideas’ and has established and runs his own Wine Education Course.

Come along to compare a variety of wines from Soumah to a selection of European wines as we graze on canapés.

European Business is proud to announce that John Bright and Phil Lui, sommeliers of Rochford Wines, will guide attendees in comparing an exciting range of wines from Rochford Wines to their European counterparts.

Rochford Wines is a family owned venture located on the Maroondah Highway in Victoria’s oldest grape growing region, the Yarra Valley.

Rochford Wines specialise in high quality, cool climate winemaking in the Yarra Valley. This process imparts distinctive ultra-premium fruit characters to the wines and their traditional winemaking methods ensure not only depth of character, but also some expression of the unique ‘terrior’ of the vineyard.

In June 2015, Rochford Wines’ ‘Dans les Bois’ Pinot Noir received a Gold medal in the Decanter World Wine Awards in London which is arguably the world’s largest and most influential wine show with over 16,000 entries.

In July 2015, Rochford Wines’ ‘L’Enfant Unique’ Pinot Noir was awarded the Geoffrey Crundal Perpetual Trophy for Best Pinot Noir in the Sydney Royal Wine Show and their ‘Bans les Bois’ Chardonnay received a Gold medal.
