By | News | No Comments

On Monday 29 May, European Business was delighted to welcome its affiliates to ‘Europeans at the Gallery’. The event saw close to 400 guests of 13 European Chambers of Industry, Trade and Commerce descend upon the Great Hall at the National Gallery of Victoria for a fabulous night of networking and an exclusive private viewing of this year’s Winter Masterpieces Exhibition, Van Gogh and the Seasons.

We were warmly welcomed by Tina Thoms of the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Willem Cosijn, the Consul General in Australia for the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Dr Ted Gott, Senior Curator of International Art at the NGV, shared his thoughts and reflections on the life of Van Gogh and the exhibition before guests were invited into the gallery to view a carefully curated selection of masterpieces.

The event was a great success and we are sure a fantastic evening was had by all. European Business would like to thank all those who were able to attend as well as the 13 European Chambers of Industry, Trade and Commerce and the event’s major sponsor Exhibition Centre.

In February, European Business was honoured to welcome back His Excellency The Honourable Alexander Downer, AC. In April, European Business welcomed Mr David Campbell, Australian Consul General Frankfurt and Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner, Western Europe for Austrade. David has over 18 years of experience in the Australasian and UK/European markets with a background in wholesale and investment banking sectors, global capital markets and wealth management. In May, European Business’ president, Oliver Jankowsky, was invited to present at RMIT’s European Union Centre’s second Policy Briefing for 2016. Welcome to 2015. We hope everyone had a relaxing Christmas and wonderful start to the New Year.

The last quarter of 2014 saw European Business hold two successful events. In October, Mr Serdar Baycan, Australian Chairman of the Bilateral Trade Agreement between the Australian Industry Group and it’s Turkish equivalent,  The Foreign Relations Board of Turkey made an interesting presentation on the Australian-Turkish business relationship, the 100 year anniversary of the landing in Gallipoli which is due to occur this year and what the future holds for these two, specially bound countries. Towards the latter end of the year, in December, our annual Christmas drinks were held again at Murmur. It was a fantastic opportunity to network and reflect on the past year. European Business would like to thank all those who supported these two events.

In the first part of 2015 European Business is excited to announce two upcoming events.

On 17th February we have the pleasure of hosting our first event of the year with guest speaker, Ms Tea Dietterich, CEO of 2M Language Services. On 24 July European Business celebrated it’s re-launch with an event at Hall & Wilcox Lawyers. Oliver Jankowsky, the President of European Business, said: “The association is unique in its ability to offer business connections with the whole of Europe. Hall & Wilcox Managing Partner, Tony Macvean, said the firm was proud to support European Business. “A strength of the European Business organisation is its business focus” said Mr Macvean.

The launch event was well attended by representatives from several European chambers of commerce and from various companies including Accenture, Ernst & Young, Seek Limited, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Sabco Australia.

Distinguished guests included Dr Mark Higgie, Senior Adviser to the Prime Minister and Australian Ambassador-designate to the EU, Belgium, Luxemburg and NATO.
