European Business celebrated a successful year marked with highlights such as the Europeans at the Gallery, our annual Australia v Europe wine tasting and the Flanders Investment & Trade networking event.

We are excited to invite you to the 2017 Australia v Europe Wine Tasting event.

European Business is proud to announce that John Bright and Phil Lui, sommeliers of Rochford Wines, will guide attendees in comparing an exciting range of wines from Rochford Wines to their European counterparts.

Rochford Wines is a family owned venture located on the Maroondah Highway in Victoria’s oldest grape growing region, the Yarra Valley.

Rochford Wines specialise in high quality, cool climate winemaking in the Yarra Valley. This process imparts distinctive ultra-premium fruit characters to the wines and their traditional winemaking methods ensure not only depth of character, but also some expression of the unique ‘terrior’ of the vineyard.

In June 2015, Rochford Wines’ ‘Dans les Bois’ Pinot Noir received a Gold medal in the Decanter World Wine Awards in London which is arguably the world’s largest and most influential wine show with over 16,000 entries.

In July 2015, Rochford Wines’ ‘L’Enfant Unique’ Pinot Noir was awarded the Geoffrey Crundal Perpetual Trophy for Best Pinot Noir in the Sydney Royal Wine Show and their ‘Bans les Bois’ Chardonnay received a Gold medal.

Europeans at the Gallery

On Monday 29 May, European Business was delighted to welcome its affiliates to ‘Europeans at the Gallery’. The event saw close to 400 guests of 13 European Chambers of Industry, Trade and Commerce descend upon the Great Hall at the National Gallery of Victoria for a fabulous night of networking and an exclusive private viewing of this year’s Winter Masterpieces Exhibition, Van Gogh and the Seasons.

We were warmly welcomed by Tina Thoms of the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Willem Cosijn, the Consul General in Australia for the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Dr Ted Gott, Senior Curator of International Art at the NGV, shared his thoughts and reflections on the life of Van Gogh and the exhibition before guests were invited into the gallery to view a carefully curated selection of masterpieces.

The event was a great success and we are sure a fantastic evening was had by all. European Business would like to thank all those who were able to attend as well as the 13 European Chambers of Industry, Trade and Commerce and the event’s major sponsor Exhibition Centre.

European Business is proud to announce that Mac Forbes, the head winemaker of Mac Forbes Wines, will guide attendees in comparing an exciting range of Mac Forbes wines to their European counterparts.

In 2004 Mac Forbes commenced a project in the Yarra Valley with the aim to better understand the land and harness its strengths to produce world class wine.

Mac’s journey started many years before when he first donned overalls in the South West of France at the tender age of eighteen. That summer was the catalyst for a now 20 year long career which has seen Mac work with some of the most respected names in the business, both in Australia and overseas.

Mac’s early experiences covered the gamut of winemaking, teaching and marketing. From educating European distributors on Australian wines to consulting to Austrian winemakers, Mac developed a strong understanding of the international wine market and old fashioned winemaking.

Come along to compare a variety of Mac Forbes wines to a selection of European wines as we graze on complimentary canapés.
